1. What actually happens October 1–7?

Five live sessions with Benji, one each weekday: Thursday Oct 1, Friday Oct 2, Monday Oct 5, Tuesday Oct 6, and Wednesday Oct 7. Over the weekend, we hope you vlog as well!

You get the full Vlogging Academy Fundamentals course the moment you join, and each live call focuses on the how the new vlogging method applies to the students who show up: your Theme, your Topic and Takeaway, and Telling the right stories, as well as updates to the YouTube space, personal coaching from Benji and Austin, changes in strategy, and more. The goal of the week is simple: get vlogging system tuned for Vlogtober, with the fundamentals behind it.

2. Do you happen to have call times available for the challenge?

Yes! Here's what we'll do:

Saturday & Sunday, October 3 & 4: Weekend Homework: Upload vlogs!

3. What if I can't make a live call?

Every session is recorded and shared. Either way, you can send us your vlog during the week for feedback.

4. How much time does this take?

The challenge is designed to take up as much time as it should take for you to edit a vlog if you're vlogging the new way -- about 30 minutes a day. In other words, if you can make it through the challenge, you have the time to vlog the new way! You can use that time to finish up your vlog, get feedback, or hear a mini-lesson from Benji and Austin. You don't film all day. You film the parts of your day that fit your Topic, and you "edit" in the camera, the way I described last week.

5. What gear do I need?

What you already have! For example, a phone, a computer that runs basic editing software (iMovie, CapCut, and Windows Movie Maker are all fine), an internet connection, and a YouTube account. If you want to upgrade later, we love the DJI Osmo Pocket, but it isn't required, and it isn't what makes a vlog work.

6. If I have access to Vlogging Academy Fundamentals material already, do I still pay the full price?

Yes, $197 is the cost of joining the challenge -- the offer to get the course materials for free with the challenge only applies to new students.

7. If I join, will I get an updated version of Vlogging Academy Fundamentals?

If you have purchased Vlogging Academy Fundamentals to this date, you already have access to all future updates for free! If you're unsure if anything has been added since you purchased, feel free to log in to your account to see if you've completed all modules.

8. I've tried before and quit. Why would this time be different?

You're in good company. A lot of the people who join us have started and stopped before. One student on our first call last January had made 50 or 60 videos across a few channels and said they'd "abandoned this a few times." Usually, the approach was the problem, not the person: filming everything, editing for hours, and trying to be interesting every single day. The three T's fix the approach. The live week adds what most solo attempts don't have: a start date, people doing it alongside you, and Benji answering your questions in real time.

9. My life is boring. What would I even vlog about?

We hear this more than any other question, and we've never met someone who wanted to vlog and had nothing to say. Your Theme comes from what you already do and think about every week; Sunday's email walks you through finding it in five minutes. Because every video has a clear Topic and Takeaway, you don't need an exciting day. A trip to Costco can make a great vlog. You don't need to understand the YouTube algorithm either: the three T's are built to work with it.

10. I already have a channel with some subscribers. Is this for me?

Yes. Subscriber counts matter less than ever for getting views. Plenty of students join with an existing channel and use the week to restart it with a clear Theme. One had about 8,800 subscribers when a video of theirs passed 61,000 views, after they switched to topic vlogs.

11. Do I have to vlog every day of October?

No, but we hope you do! Vlogtober is the YouTube tradition of vlogging every day in October, and some of you will go for it. The challenge covers the first week, and the goal is to get you going for the month. Upload as often as you can, and we'll help you with whatever you make.

12. Why $197, and why only once a year?

$197 is what Vlogging Academy Vlogtober Challenge costs on its own. During the challenge, if you're a first-time student, the same $197 also gets you our on-demand course, Vlogging Academy Fundamentals. The live Vlogtober week happens once a year, and when registration closes Wednesday night, this version of the offer closes with it.
